What is the goal of the Boston Dog Owners Group?
The first step is just having this website where Bostonians can voice their opinions and share information about life with a dog in Boston. Going forward, I hope to create a "board" of BostonDOG representatives from all Boston neighborhoods to steer the organization.
Apart from the obvious goal of creating more enclosed dog parks, I envision BostonDOG funding and organizing park clean-ups, dog licensing campaigns and generally promoting responsible dog ownership across our great city. To fund the organization's efforts, I plan to seek donations from local businesses and residents... I'll be kicking it off with a donation from my own business, Petpal. (www.bostonpetpal.com)
This is a work in progress; eventually, BostonDOG will have a clearly defined mission. If you'd like to suggest a mission statement, please post it here. If you'd like to become a neighborhood representative or have any other suggestions, please leave a message in the relevant forum. |

I spoke to a reporter from the Boston Courant earlier today; he asked me about BostonDOG's mission. As luck would have it, I'd listed a "Mission of BostonDOG" on the membership application that was distibuted at last week's meeting so I just read that off to him.
Here it is... quickly thrown together before last Thursday's meeting. It really should be polished so your comments and suggestions are most appreciated.
thanks,
-Alain
Mission of BostonDOG:

• Foster community cooperation by working with Boston residents, neighborhood and civic associations, city and state officials to identify and apply for Dog Recreation Spaces.
• Keep Boston’s Dog Recreation Spaces safe, clean and operating as promised and in harmony with the residents that use it or live nearby. |
